Following on from a thread below, went out for a few hours last night round Hatfield forest and saw a woodpecker, cuckoo, rabbits, fallow deer, bloody big cows and the highlight was a kingfisher sweeping along the river :0)

anyone beat that on a single ride??

I never see more than the odd rabbit, squirrel and average bird fodder.

Although saying that I spotted a badger on a road ride last week, but it didn't look liked he'd moved for a few days....

Only ever seen an Adder pop out in front me and a mate while cycling near Leith hill area. We were riding side by side when pop out from the right snaked along in front of for a few feet the dived in the bushes on the left. We were both
Other wise just the normal farm animals

Riding around the Ridgeway, oxfordshire, 2 summers ago. A farmer was cutting hay and the sky above was thick with red kites waiting to pick up any unfortunate rodent etc that was kicked up by the mower.

An amazing site, but I have to admit feeling a little vulnerable with a dozen or so large (6ft wingspan) birds of prey circling above my head.

Red kites seem to group up on mass quite often, traveling down the M4 from Oxford to London late summer last year, where the road cuts through the Ridgeway, there was an enormous amount of them in the air riding the thermals. It wouldnt of suprised me if there were 60/70 of them. Sadly since I was driving on the motorway there wasnt the same chance to stop and watch them.

Camel in Surrey Hills?

Well sort of.

Not ridden trails for some years but on a single walk. . .

Red Deer
Squirrels
Buzzards
Little Owl
Rabbits
Hares

On different days, we've seen Foxes (including a litter of cubs), Woodpecker, Weasels, Fallow Deer, Fieldfares, Badger, Baby snake swimming in a pond, Woodcocks and a seal...

Last summer, I was mucking around in Bourne Woods, near Farnham, enjoying the singletrack through the blueberries, when I surprised a couple of Beavers. You hardly ever see wild beavers anymore, let alone playing together in the woods.

Now that sounds more like it some beaver on beaver action

came very close to an over the bar incident with a badger last year.

orange71 can trump us all with his recent close encouinter of the 5th kind.

been surfing alongside a seal before. that was pretty cool

On the boat, you see all sorts. I was sat on the deck drinking coffee, and an enormous (easily 18 inches) goldfish came and started eating the bread I'd chucked out for the ducks.

I'm very lucky. In Berkshire/South Oxfordshire where I am at the minute, there is a lot of wildlife, more than I've ever noticed in fact.
