That's the 1st MT300 i've ever seen but if what it says in bikepedia is true then it's no surprise i've not seen one before as i don't know of any other members on here that owns one and during the best part of the 90s i'd drifted away from cycling and it's only this last couple of years or so that i've started to get back into it again so how'd it feel to ride compared to a standard steel or Alu framed bike ..

remember this is across the pond from you guys......
they made several levels of the MT series here during that time..MT300 MT400 etc all the way up to MT1000 titanium with XTR/gripshift [ I wanted that one something fierce, but alas funds were lacking]
every model went up in component level, I think even the steel rear triangle was a "better" tubing in the higher models, some continued, but the MT300 doesn't show up in the bikepedia website.
as far as riding goes, I was and still am a amateur so I couldn't really expound on its virtues but I loved it none the less.

So you chose the bottom of the range which is no big deal as it was obviously pretty well made but i can't see the rear steel triangles on the higher models being a lot lighter than the entry level tbh as i suspect the weight saving will be at the forks and the main triangle of the frame followed the higher quailty spec of wheels , bars and saddle n stems as well as the rest of your components ..
You don't have to be a pro rider to realise the difference betweem a mixed material frame and a steel as such as i'm no pro although i may of done around 15 years worth of riding in the 20 odd years i've been into bikes but still it's mainly distance and time out on trails, bridal paths and roads that help you understand the feel of a bike ..
