Who Still Rides Retrobikes

There are disquieting murmurs I have noted that suggest some people on here collect but dont actually ride retrobikes anymore :shock:

To me this is sacriligeous !!!

However I do understand where this is coming from as well even I admit modern bikes have many nice features such as Disc Brakes and suspension that actually works.

I still primarily ride retro but occasionally ride modern.

Who still rides old stuff and if you dont, why ?

Only functioning bike is the Raleigh MTrax gate of dubious origin.

I use it on the Macretro rides and with the dog at Innerleithen most Saturdays... So technically I only ride retro..

I only have and ride retrobikes, all of them (including two KLEINs)

Why wouldn't you ride them? Because they're worth a lot?? Collectors items?? For now maybe, but try to explain to some 17 year old why a 1992 KLEIN Adroit would be worth 3000 quid... you're in for a laugh, I guess. So when "our generation" is gone, a KLEIN won't be worth anything anymore

Same with old computers and old cars, interest will dissapear with the generations I think :?:

1994 Lava Dome, 1999 Cindercone. Both riders, scratched, modified.

I cannot imagine anything more dull than polishing a catalogue build. :roll:

These are mass-produced, industrial products. They are made to be used. They are not works of art.

Hang them on the wall and you take away their whole reason for existence. Classic cars have turned into a car-cleaning competition - we need to stop this repeating itself.

My latest bike is a roadbike from 1997. I do ride my bikes and I do that quite actively.

I ride all of mine. I'm currently putting some time into my 2005 FSR-XC as I have not given it much attention since buying it years ago. The old stuff is great but my back and ankles are starting to fall apart, the modern full suss is easier on my tired and old bones hehe

My most modern bike is 96, and I ride my 94 Axis almost daily

Came back to retro so as to not kill my modern FS commuting over the winter. Have given it a more contemporary riding position and expect to be riding it a lot more than the modern over the next few months.
