Who has the best commute?

Walked home from work this afternoon so instead of being in a huge rush on the bike, I was able to savour the scenery a little more than usual - and realised how lucky I am really! The Blackwater Valley cycle path is 23 miles long - my house is only half a mile or so from it, and three and bit miles further down it goes past the end of the road where I work.

So, in nice weather, my commute consists mostly of stuff like this:

:D

Anyone got any better?

Nice :D

I used to commute from Kendal to Satterthwaite (Grizedale forest). I drove my car to Windermere, took the bike out of the boot. Crossed the lake with my bike and cycled through Hawkshead and up to Grizedale taking in a couple of downhills on the way :D

Sadly, my job means I need my car all day every day :(

I even got beaten to my office by a cyclist last week, passed him in my village but by the time I'd got to with 500 yds of my office (5 miles later) he zapped past. And thats at 7.45am

Proves how sh1t Lincoln traffic is

I'd love to bike in one day...

leave car at work and cycle . :?:

I used to have a stunning commute (by car though) from North Leeds, through the villages to the A1...about 30 miles on the A1 (not particulary nice other than the fact you were freely heading out of the city when the lines of traffic were jamming up on the way into the city)

Then off towards thirsk, up sutton bank and down into helmsley where I worked (next door to kirby moorside...home of pace)...absolutly stunning scenary. I used to stop off on sutton bank on the way home on fridays to have a walk and admire the views.

During the winter it got a little snowy though (the dot infront is a corsa... the drifted snow is deeper than the corsa...)

Still they kept the road open...not like down here in oxfordshire where people start abandoning their vehicles at the first sight of snow :P

That is very nice, gradeAfailure, I wouldnt mind cycle to work something like your photo's, but I walk to work which it's 10 mins walk through some housing estate!

i work all over as a builder but when i was an apprentice i rode my bmx everywere local, riding to and from jobs was a street sesh dream at times.maybe one day ill be able to commute by bike but not till career chance

I'd say anyone who can commute on a bike has the best commute. Not everyone is as lucky as those of us who get to ride in to work on a bike, and then gaze dreamily at the bike for 8 hours and then ride it back home! :D

i seem to remember and advert for a car saying something like this, i think it applies to bikes.

somewhere between home and work there is a holiday

i think that can be very true, nothing like having the wind in my baldpatch going to work stress free!

:D :D
