They don't call it the Peak District for nothing!!

9 Riders started the day at just after the start time of 10am (yes, Pete was late).
one peeled off after 7 or so miles leaving 8 to complete the ride.

A bright blue sky was present all day, accompanied by a brisk wind and a welcoming warming sun when we were out of the trees.
For the most part, the ground was frozen solid, with just a few muddy patches appearing early afternoon after thawing.
Long climbs were rewarded with long descents, with just a few short sharp ones thrown in, both up and down.
Fish and chips by the river in Bakewell went down well all round.
I only remember saying "one more hill" a couple of times, much to everyone's delight.

Stats:
22.4 Miles
2570 feet of elevation
1 mechanical - Longun's Granny ring fell off on the first ascent, leaving him without it for the rest of the ride. Hope your legs recover this week!
1 minor injury when carl used a barbed wire fence to help him stop.
1 water crossing, that looked too cold for me, so I took the bridge route.
zero crashes
zero punctures.

We didn't vote, but bike of the ride for Me was Pete's (cant remember) with drum brakes, and numerous touring attachments, in the hope that he would simple flatten any bumps in his path under its enormous weight.

Thanks to LGF for supplying most of the bikes at one point in time, and for displaying how mud guards can be used to stop even the deepest icy puddles from getting you wet!

Great ride all round, thanks to all who rode. Catch you next time.

Re:

Excellent!

Looks like a great ride, and thanks for the photos. Just so I can see what I was missing!
I'm going to the Peaks for a week in August, if anyone's around. Just a thought.

Mike

Re:

Cracking days riding again in peaks again. Some really nice new stuff ridden, some extra climbing to work the old legs again and don't feel too bad given the chest pains. Great company, great bikes and another top winters ride. I'll add a few more pics when I get 5 mins

Re:

Where was all the mud?! I feel cheated...

Ace day out, I know Rich was working on this route for ages and it really showed - a very classy day of oldskool, proper hill riding, really enjoyable! Kiran's busy singing your praises too - she meant to say something before you left but I think the draw of the warm van might've been too tempting!

I've put all the photos I've found so far into a shared album, hopefully you all have links to it already, via one medium or another, but they're here anyway:

Please add anything else you have so they're all in one place!

Much as enjoyed that, I think I might ride something fifteen pounds lighter next time out...

Re:

Flippin' 'eck! I'm even more envious now I've seen more photos!

I'm up in the Peaks from 3rd to 10th August, should anyone want to hook up for a ride
