When was Shimano Deore LX introduced?

1989's mountain lx became deore lx in 1990. it was far more similar to exage 500lx than it was to dx - it had the weaker cantis, the plastic shifters and the four finger brake levers.

pretty crankset though.

spot-on. my 89 ridgeback 602 had mountain LX, & for 90' they changed it to deore LX, with 1st gen. STI.

im pretty sure though, they only made mountain LX for 1989..does that make it collectable..!?

Deore LX was originally under Deore in the range - it's only later that it went up one.

Deore LX replaced Mountain LX which itself replaced the Exage Mountain group. In the olden days it went;

Exage Trail
Exage Mountain
Deore
Deore XT

The range widened when 7 speed was introduced. Deore and Deore XT got the suffix 'II'
