when cars had presence

8)

a friend of a friend has an integralle evo in his garage. came of fthe road because the wastegate was sticking on the turbe. he opened the bonnet, found where it was and closed the bonnet again!

that was 6 years ago

modern wrc cars probably achieve same speed but are more stable and stay on the ground .

Those were the days. 8)

The Audi Quattro with the big wings ran about 550 horse power back then
Modern ones are limited to just 300. :( Probably just as quick though

they aRE just as quick now but look tame tbh, theyre restricted on the turbo and achieive around 300bhp but torque around 500lb/ft !!!

there was a lot of accidents but remember the spectaters were very careless and stupid most the time.f1 has had a scary past,tt lemans etc, motorsport is dangerous, full stop.

thats why i love it,and cos you need 2 balls not 1 lol

Did a little bit of rally watching in them days. Dalby forest at night and them cars, absolute spectacle. Every sense traumatised.

It's not just this type of motorsport that presents risk to spectators.

Spectators have been killed in premier single seater racing in recent years, even with catch fencing and wheel tethers (I'm thinking of the CART race on a US oval and the driver - Adrian Fernandez, I think - hit the wall, one of his front wheels flew off, way over the catch fence, and killed a spectator).
