Hi all,
is anyone making road/touring wheels with Shimano freehubs sufficiently narrow for 7-speed cassettes? About 126mm Over Locking Nuts is 6-speed, so 130mm-ish? I imagine most wheels are made with 8/9/10 speed hubs these days.
Cheers,
snowmole
Chances are that vyour dropouts are 130mm.
Equally just bunging on a 7 speed free hub will work on a 8 speed rim. it works the opposite way for me.
I have a selection of good 7 speed free hubs if you want to swap for an 8
Hi,
I've since discovered that a lot of freehubs are indeed 130mm OLN.
My forks are 126mm, which is why I asked to see how much I had to spring them to fit 7-speed.
I just threw it in as a pointer in case the frame in question was 753. Pretty much anything else and you should be fine - been there and done that with a Raleigh frameset using 501 tubing.
