Hi folks,

Any idea what year this Marin Bear Valley is - it's a UK bike.

site: ebay.co.uk

search: "marin bear valley mountain bike 15 inch frame 21 gears"

Not seen it, I say 1994.

Am I a winner or what?

I've looked quite a bit on line - I knew this site would have some informed suggestions.

I'm contemplating getting it for my girlfriend - she hasn't cycled for about 15 years, and we quite fancy bikes to use along the river Thames - there's a lovely pub that takes an hour and a half to walk to - cycling means getting there quicker, and hopefully finding more great pubs.

Seems quite pricey for such an old bike, are these considered "classics"?

It's either this or a new Giant Escape for women.

You're in the wrong bit.

Yes It's a classic and in very good nic too. Looks like a 92ish to me?

I would say don't go over about 150 and the missus will have a great riding retro. Do remember though it looks to have the original Drivetrain as far as I can see in the little pic. Ask about any wear to the chain etc...
Could be a costly sort if worn.

Good luck.

ps Welcome to the forum.

Many thanks guys,

I'll post in the right bit when I come back to seek advice fixing the drive train!!

Thanks again,
Ant

I paid £64 for a 91 pine mountain, all original excerpt Xtr brake/shifters and XT hub laced to phatso rims. Did need a repaint though.
