What would cause...

...my headset to suddenly tighten? Mid ride and something 'changes'. The bike just feels different. I now realise the headset has tightened which explains the odd feeling.

I don't remember hitting anything. I remember stopping to check something out, (not bike related) getting back on and getting back up to pace and thinking, "Something has changed."

I'm off to find the appropriate 1" spanner tomorrow (wonder how easy that will be?) and wish to steel myself against what I might find.

It is a standard 1" threaded/quill jobbie.

I have had the same thing - after 1000's of miles the headset was tight and the lockring loose. Never happened again. It's just plain weird.

Ignore them, just retighten and ride on. Dont encourage them :roll:

The weather gods are at it too. Dry and feeling much warmer so a ride was in order this evening. With the road bike side lined I had to go on a tractor.

Maximum distance from the house and a Biblical proportions hail storm hits me. I swear my head has dents in it. I sometimes really miss hair!

Will have a 1" spanner hopefully tomorrow.
