What to build next?

Re:

Gavr, nice idea, but not at the prices I've seen.

Bugloss, yes, I've looked at Holdsworth, but other than the obvious, and pricy Professional, I'm not sure which models are good and which erm, less so.

Bagpuss, other than reading the names, I don't know either of those, I shall start searching.

Keep the ideas coming, somewhere out there is just what I'm looking for.

66 mistral in my shed looks closer to your size than mine ;-)

Re:

That's a nice looking project Andy and I love the wrapover seatstays, but it's not really what I'm looking for.

I know what you mean I'm more into the 70s bikes for some reason, what I really want is something I can drillium to death! TT bikes are really floating my boat.

Re:

It's a long time since I've lived in London, but have they closed all the Post Offices in the capital?

I only ask, as there seem to be some very nice frames for sale up there, but all of them are collection only.

Perhaps it's just that sellers think London contains the entire population of England (it must feel like that trying to get to work), or maybe it's just that they just can't be arsed to go and get a cardboard box and some bubble wrap.

So, the hunt goes on.

The second photo is a TdF late 5o's probably (is that Tommy Simpson on the left in white and Brian Robinson in the centre?) shows the front rider using Mafac 'Tiger' brake stirrups. I think it's possibly the first time I've seen them used 'in anger'. Most riders stuck with the 'Racer' model.

A late 50's bike would be a nice challenge and not to difficult to source parts for as by then the more 'modern' fittings were appearing (ie, Campag chainsets and Record gears, Mafac brakes etc.)
