What the heck happened to me?

Old School Hero
Not more than a month or so ago, I re-acquired my old Grove Innovations Ti bike. Since then, I've been infatuated with all things retro-MTB. And in particular the brands sold my our small local MTB shop in the early 1990s. I now have a Merlin hard tail, and two Fisher Montare framesets. And even a Hoo Koo inbound complete (a little battered).

I'm buying used Shimano bike parts on eBay that I'd have thrown away 6 months ago. I'm a sick man.

What is it that has us doing this? Is it just nostalgia? Are we all 40 to 50 year old guys trying to play with our old toys once more? Is there something special about the old stuff? I have a theory, but I'm interested in yours. :?

making up for lost time i think , you can afford the stuff from your past now , so you buy it

Agreed, and in addition, you can get stuff for about 1/4 of the original cost because (1) it's used, and (2) it's old technology. I still value a lot of the old stuff, even though the technology has been advancing, and so it's hard for me to pass up an opportunity to buy something slightly used for 1/4 of what I would have had to pay for it back in the day.

Similar thing here. Not got the cash since I got the bug unfortunately, so been lining things up for when my money is due, which is with any luck, before the end of the month
