What sizes did xt seatposts come in?

While the 26.4 is available in 1993 (first time it mentions it) you've got to find one.

Why would you take. .2 mm off, you then need to refinish it to make an XT post.
Or get something else...

(what's the reason for and XT post SP-M730 when most are lighter than them? .)
Yes, but seem to be extremely rare, and I know there are more than one looking for one. Only good reason would be to have full XT build. I think decals are available online, but similar finish would require some professional expertise.

Might as well just get a repro post or spray a layback kalloy or similar, unless you do it to the same finish.
Just wondering why mod-master after one, only as the few posts I've read are looking for lightweight stuff.
must be for yet another bike

I was looking for lightweight stuff but I abandoned that, as @Vesatoro said it’s nice to have the full complete xt group. What about dx posts what did they come in?

But there may be another xt frame in the pipes so we’ll see😎

DX same as XT and XTR, mentioned above.
Thing is bikes were generally not specified with the, people didn't really buy (apart from in the late 80s I think) unless it was the XTR one to show off the new XTR.

So many other posts to choose from to show of with from a buyers point of view in the early 90's let alone 1993.

I'll keep an eye out though and watch out for fakes (a thread somewhere on that). Only the Klien chaps repros seem to be really good, possibly only on 27.0 or 27.2 though.

Yes. It’s a bit odd that they even offered a seatpost. Why not then other ”tubular parts” stem, bar, bar ends and so on? Steel was not too high tech either, so probably those did not sell too well, and eventually were dropped from the groupsets.

They originally sold seatpost clamps so I assume a natural progression from that, though as FC said, only originally offered in a few sizes. When they brought them out in a wider range of sizes there were a lot of lighter alternatives and upgrades which people were speccing, a lot wanting to match seatpost and stem, syncross and the like.

I still see the repro versions for sale often. Also see the 26.4 versions for sale, though usually they have been cut short, already a bit on the short side for Kona's to start with imo.

Watch out if your not 100% sure on xt seatpost..Some of you may remember a whole batch that appeared maybe 5 years ago....said to nos, but actually they had a different clamp and different profile to the front/ top of the tube.

Looked the part, but certainly not genuine....but lots got sold, so take a good look before parting with good dollar for them.

Don´t shave material from a seatpost mast. That´s a Darwin Award move. Add shims but don´t shave material unless it´s a bike for show (hard to believe but there are those around)
XT posts came in 26.4 but i never watched any for sale on ebay or anywhere else.
