Thinking about tidying or changing colour of some shock springs. What paint is best so it doesn't crack and fall off?

Hi,
I have used 2 part epoxy paint in the past and it works well but it’s pricey and you usually have to buy a minimum of 750ml or so. Powder coat is surely the best bet in such applications as it somewhat “flexible”

I'm looking to do a spring or two, so powder coat isn't viable due to minimum value. That tin recommended is also pricey if I'm just dipping a couple of springs in it.

I'd prefer spray, wondering if plasticote spray might work? I need so little I don't want to spend much or have a ton left over.

What about model enamel paint?

I've used Dulux gloss paint on car springs, and it has lasted years .... nice and flexible. Readily available in many colours from the local big sheds.
