I don't actually 'think' about my choice at all. I look through the pictures, spending about 5 seconds on each one, and one or two will just stick out for no quantifiable reason. It could be the brand, the colour scheme, the condition, the componentry choice, or just the nostalgia factor, or maybe a combination of several things. If the choice still isn't obvious to me after a second perusal of the pics, I won't vote.

Personally, I vote for the bike I'd like to have best, out of the line up - usually a very quick decision, from a quick look at the pics.
Sometimes that's none of them, so sometimes I don't vote.
The occasional sense of entitlement leaves me cold, as does the notion that some seem to assume that a particular entry is the clear winner.
And I have to say, I prefer that entries are more of a personal ownership thing, rather than some calculated thing - same with the entry, then shortly followed by being up for sale.

I vote for the bike I like the look of the most. It will usually be a bike or brand I liked bitd so many fine bikes with great history leave me cold as I can't remember them from my youth.
There's been loads of bikes over the years that most other people have got really excited about but I just didn't see it.
Couldn't care less who's bike it is although I have voted for bikes I've seen in the flesh that I might not have done if I hadn't.

Most of what's written on the threads just proves Carls point 100%. I'm not even sure if any of it has anything to do with the bikes mind you, it just seems to be people not respecting other peoples opinions and then ousting them as trouble makers.
I build my bikes because I like them and I want to ride them. I have entered BOTM a couple of times and not got any votes, but when it comes down to it that doesn't bother me. I don't build them just to show them off or use it as a popularity contest. I also only vote for the bike I would like to own, regardless of who's it is.
It's about having respect for fellow forum members, regardless of their opinions. Unfortunately there seems to be a culture of 'if your face don't fit....'
