I'm considering buying a few of the EXAL Sp19 rims for rear wheel use and would like to ask those with experience with them (or EXAL generall) to provide some feedback as to their quality.
I have a couple of sets of the ceramic version of SP 19. Absolutely bombproof. No issues, and still going strong after more than 10 years of fairly heavy use (including touring). Pretty impressive for a budget rim really.
I have the LX17 26" 36 hole version laced to non-disc deore hubs on mountain bike and they have been, so far, bomb proof. Though I haven't done thousands of miles on them.
Can't comment on their road rims, but SpaCycles is a reliable source with an experienced wheelbuilder and they use them.
Ok, thanks fellas. I was considering buying a set of the Sp19's from Spacycles. The exchange rate + postage takes the fun out of the sale but still not bad for a decent quality rim.
Looked into buying those rims - postage absolutely destroys any notion of sending them to Canada. Chain Reaction and Wiggle used to (up until recently) be able to send rims and tires from Ireland or Spain to Canada for $13 in Canadian funds. Spa Cycles quoted £95 postage, for rims which totalled approx £30.
I don't know how logistics companies operate, but they earn their salt sometimes.
