What is the longest ride you have done on your retro.

145 miles at last year's Dunwich Dynamo - should have been 30 miles less but the sods wouldn't let me on the train at Saxmundham and I had to cycle to Ipswich for a connection to get into London for the start! Was on a 1997 Sunn Roader with flat bars.

.......I will have to look at my "12 hour" but the one I am most proud of is below at the tender age of 15 :)

Small world, i used to regularly do GHS events. First as a member of CTC (York) and then as art of Clifton CC. But i was doing them in the 80's! And if you were still riding with Hull Thursday in the mid/late 80's we probably met, used to run into them on a fairly regular basis.......

I did Dunwich Dynamo (116 miles) year before last on my 1970's Bob Jackson and I've done London to Brighton (50 miles) on my 1990's Raleigh. I usually do up to 110 miles a week commuting on mine anyway, so I wouldn't think twice about taking it out on a long ride. I'll be doing Dunwich this year on my 1980's Russian track bike. I was going to do the Kentish Killer this year (70 miles) but it's me that's not up to it, not the bike :(

50 mile trips on a old Carlton a couple of years back .

Since the start of this year a couple 25 mile trips on this

Did end to end on a Raleigh RRA in 1992 which by then was 10 years old . 10 speed , down tube etc not sure if it was even classed as retro then .

I cant say that I have done anything just as "crazy" long as what you tell. But I had one really nice 150km-ish ride in the Alps. Started out very early on my 1991 Colnago Master in Lausanne and rode along the lake into the boarder ot france. Then into the high stuff and ovr to Morzine and Avoariaz and from there by Les Gets to Geneve and "home"... The sun was just comming down as I entered Geneve... a good long day in the saddle. It was a ride that I still remeber as one of my best.

I think my longest ever was the Manchester-Chester last year which (with minor detour) was a paltry 64miles. Retroish Giant CFR. Not impressed that it's one of the shortest so far! I'm a mountain biker really though

...thinking about it, ten laps of Mayhem last year may have been further - does that count?

I think we missed each other :( I was a 70's rider with Hull Thursday and sort of left cycling 1979 when I was at Uni in London.

I did a few GHS events, including a Schoolboy GHS Memorial 10 on the Boro' course..........blimey that scared me after my usual events around the back roads of Yorkshire but boy was it fast :)

Sorry to hijack the posting, but have we had the Clifton-based conversation before on here? I was a member 2000-2004, so not sure if our paths might ever have crossed.

Back on topic - my late 80s/early 90s Raleigh Quadra (converted into a tourer) has done a few 100+ mile summer jaunts from Winchester up to Stratford via the scenic routes. Descending off the Ridgeway towards Shrivenham and that way with a full complement of luggage can be a bit hair-raising though. And the slog from Leafield over to Chipping Norton through the Wychwood Forest never seems to get any easier....

Nah, i left the York area for good in 1996, would have been in the midlands (Leamington Spa) by then, and i pretty much packed in cycling in 2001. Just the odd club run rather than training 5 or 6 days a week!
