Twist shifters came and went during the early nineties. I wasn't even aware that Suntour had even made such, but there they are. "GripShift" was the primary brand name, and my 1994 Ritchey P-21 came equipped with them straight from the factory. I tossed them in a drawer and replaced them with top-mount thumbies.
I can't think of a single acquaintance who still uses twist type shifters, even on the vintage gear. I can only think of one or two who tried them BITD. Don''t give those away cheap, because they have to be pretty rare.
The plastic lever makes them low/cheap one's imho. The higher end would be metal.
Not sure how long they used them for as a year or two later Suntour was no more and most the stuff went 'Plug & Play" aka Shimano compatible.
The higher end went to an ErgoTwistShift (not sure of correct name or what they looked like, but they had flappy paddles as well as the twist iirc), the next year (1994)
Try Mombat, they probably have some information on them. Though Unfortunately Mombat only concentrates on the top 2/3 groupsets so lower down you have no history.
So maybe MT2 is the plug and play variant for the bottom end group sets around 1995+
Now the SX is odd, as the S would be the road groupsets, which this is not, the only other groupset that would possible use S would be the S-1 groupset... as all MTB (in 93 at least) uses X....
so look for somthing with S at the start in 94+, i'm off to mombat now.
I don't even think about it! I just bought them yesterday
In Polanad Suntour is unique equipment, and this construction I have seen only in catalogues until yesterday
I personally think they are a much later series than 93. They look cheap and nasty (no offence just comparing them with say XC pro). Despite the fact suntour went broke in 94/95 ish the brand was sort of started again and still exists today in a mass production low end situation. They are doing crappy department store type stuff and low end shocks. The stuff is nothing like the Suntour of old. I suspect what you have there is something much newer than 93. The original egrotech levers did have some alloy parts. The new stuff is shimano compatible as I understand.
I just saw a set similar if not the same on our Australian ebay. (www.ebay.com.au) search suntour to find them. Says they are Shimano compatible. Would have to be reincarnated Suntour if thats the case?? Not sure what you mean about the logo?
