What happened to the old style crud guard

I have been using some very trick-looking carbon-look lightweight fenders from THE (Toby Henderson Equipment) that work really well when I put them on in the Winter. They attach to the underside of the fork with a Star nut in front and with a supplied arm that attaches to the seatpost in the rear

I've just bought some Speed Stuff fenders from CRC. They attach in the same way as the THE, I think :? Got them in carbon effect too
