What do you really love seeing on a gorgeous retro bike?

- N.O.S. gear hammered on the anvil of singletrack

- mud covered warhorse with evidence of masses of lube, grease and bearings at just the right points to keep it good

- a build favouring engineering over rarity or originality

• a Gary Fisher I bought in 92, sold to a cousin in 2005, bought it back last January. Frame and cranks are all that's left but it made me happy
