Freewheel
Evaporust worked a treat on the sprockets once I’d managed to get them off the body…

I’m in need of expert advice on threading of hubs and freewheels.

The bike has Campagnolo Record large flange hubs with a rear spacing of 120mm. It doesn’t have the threading marked but does have a single groove on the hub where the threading is marked on later versions. Is this English or Italian threaded?

I have 2 Regina GS Corse freewheels. The one that came with the bike (now with sensible 13-24 sprockets) has no markings on it and screws all the way on with no problem. I believe this is Italian threaded but would like the experts to confirm.

The second freewheel is marked FI on the back which I believe is English threaded. This screws on most of the way but gets stuck about 1mm short of it seating properly if I use my fingers to tighten it. It screws onto another hub just fine.

I’ve measured the freewheel bodies and there is no obvious reason it is bottoming out so I think it is just binding.

I don’t want to damage the hub threads so would be grateful for some expert guidance. If this freewheel and the hub are both English threaded can I do any damage if I grease the threads and then tighten it on to the hub with a chain whip?
