"Beautiful, but for that price there should be a set of hubs with them!"
Not Royce hubs you don't! I found out how much a Titanium Royce set of hubs cost... took me months of therapy to come to terms that such things exist
That was tongue in cheek! :P

I know they're expensive, even 2nd hand, even more expensive than Phil Wood!

"They're only £1150 for a set of racing gold disc hubs and £260 for the matching skewers."
...hiding in a dark corner, rocking back and forth.... only 1150, only 1150... and 260 for matching skewers... wait that's GBP! that would make it... 2170$! AAAAAARGH!
Is there an emoji for hyperventilating in a paper bag?

If you're talking vintage skewers, American Classics were always my fave. Light, simple, strong, came in colours, and titanium. Hard to find though...

Modern Tune ones look very similar ;)

Re:

I guess Ringle Holeys are some of the most iconic for that period correct bling - but they're functionally bloody awful  I had a full set including seatpost QR for my Romax build and ditched them in favour of XC Pro

I agree with Fluffy that it's hard to beat Shimano for doing the job well.

I think for classic boutique look it has to be Ringle - and they occasionally pop up at reasonable prices :D

Functionality - it's got to be a 'traditional' style ...

Simplicity - bolt on's, control tech look nice :D

Oddity - spotted some nuke proof on here recently that looked cool 8)

WD :D

Re:

Nothing that i've seen in the flesh gets close to an xtr skewer (m950 to present day) in terms of functionality, longevity and smoothness.

MBA did a test based solely on clamping force. No bling factor involved. 1) Campagnolo 2) Shimano 3) Salsa

I've always used and advised Shimano, they just work brilliantly, possibly due to the big S's paranoia some years back of the whole 'failing QR's and wheels dropping out' litigation thing.

Having said that if anyone has a nice set of Rasta Salsas' for sale please let me know! :) They look nicer than anything else IMHO.
