what am I missing here??

Somebody sold a half eaten sandwich on eBay once. I think dirty socks have floated out there too.

I once sold a CD changer on eBay for more than I paid for it, and the woman who won the auction begged me to cancel it because her husband said if she buys anything more on eBay he's leaving her.

There is a buyer for everything. Sometimes just as an excuse to buy.

We regularly get those and similar bikes donated to the bike workshop I volunteer at. We strip anything usable off them and scrap the frames - just not worth doing anything to.

There's another thread about post-pub eBay bids, this is definitely a good example!

Am I missing something here

I got 3 similar ones in a job lot for 5.50 and stripped anything worth having and scrapped the frames which did indeed weigh an awful lot.

looking again i actually had one of these as a pub bike.

i found it in a shared house i moved into. i left it behind when i moved out

Actually, bikes like that are perfect for kids who have not the slightest respect for anything they are given/own, mistreat and abuse them, swap them for a couple of XBox games and 50g of Amberleaf, leave them laying in the middle of the front lawn in all weathers...

...yes, the voice of bitter experience! :x
