what 853 decal for my 98 Kona Explosif,.....

"Reynolds 853 Butted Frame & Stays" ?

both are available from Reynolds, but dont know which one for my Explosif - anyone who knows ?

Very few 853 frames have 853 stays as it is so difficult to work, with cold setting being almost impossible due to the hardness of the material post-welding. Reynolds recommended 725 for the stays for all factory builders, with 853 reserved only for low volume applications where the builder could lavish more preparation time on each frame to ensure correct post-welding alignment without cold-setting.

I believe that Kona Hots had 853 stays from 97 onwards, but 725 before, the 98 Explosif had 725 stays and the 99 Explosif had generic butted stays. So the '853 butted main tubes' sticker would be correct for both 98 and 99 Explosifs.
