Weinmann straddle wire.

A friend has asked me to fit some Weinmann centrepulls to her Raleigh mixte frame which is an easy fit on the lower position at the rear. I have the brakes (750s) but the problem is that it needs an extended straddle wire to go around the seatpost and I am having trouble sourcing one. I know they exist because her pal has an identical bike with this set up.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is it the type that has a nipple on one end and the other clamps?
If so use a MTB brake cable. It may not have the fancy shaped nipple designed for fingers but that doesn't really matter. Or do as I do and thread a short bit of cord down the cable to grasp

I am pretty sure i saw a set up like this recently - one end of the starddle cable had the lead barrel fitting and the other has a screw-on fixture. I have no idea where i saw this but, i would guess it was on ebay and related to a set of Mafac Racer brakes.

I am not aure if this is much help unless you can find the screw-on fixture or, at least, work out its correct name to search for it. Sounds like an LBS job.

Probably easier to buy a couple of beaters as a complete brake... There are always plenty around.

Failing that you could try phoning Big Al, he owns a LBS on the outskirts of Glasgow and if I require some obscure part he always seems to have it
