Cross Baikus.

Two days, two rides, so different. Sun and blue vs cloud and grey. The difference between a Gilet day and Gore-Tex outing. On my own and with a friend. blast fast and trundle amble. Fun, fun. Look down and see the skyscape move over me in the top of my fork crown. Catch no sky, just grey, don't look up much. Breathe in full gulps of nature. Talk talk and hear nothing. Banana stop. Toasted sandwiches and tea at extortionate prices. Half way round and a full on spin home on the road. Semi complete and a steady friendly journey back. In the door to toast and beans. In the door to toast and honey. Tea. Tea. Tea. Best rides of my life.

Mountain Baiku

Saturday: Solo ride...only an hour to spare...faff deciding what to wear...settle on arm warmers leggings...gab the clean Avalanche...hit the trail...along the footpath the mud covers me top to bottom...down the steps and over the wooden bridge...nearly loose it as very slippy...round the top bend the wind slows my progress...into the woods and fly over the rocks and roots...out onto the footpath I check my watch...30 mins has elapsed...turn around and retrace my route to home...shortest ride of my life but looking forward to tomorrow

Sunday: Mike arrives and we hit the trails...route less wet but very sticky...regret my 2.1's...wind speed today is evil...legs feel good uo the fist climb...discuss retro v modern...quick spin along the road and we're into the woods...dance over the rock garden and roots...along the footpaths and we're back onto the road...down the hill the wind provides a helping hand...back into the woods I wind the pace up...sprint against Mike up the final climb...he peels off and I spin on the road home...bike in shed...shower...lemon curd sandwiches for lunch

Awesome weekend of MTB's and mud 8)
