Just had a look and shimano sora 3x9 sti and shimano 9sp bar end shifters here.

PM me with prices on your various levers and I'll let you know which I'll take - looking like it might be preferring the Sora's becuse I can't find anything like the Cane Creek brake levers only I used to have up for sale anywhere to use the others - althogh I still think getting any road lever to modulate a pair of canti's might be the bigger challenge (although V-brakes might be easier, requiring less cable pull), but would be nice to use canti's on the frame. Never had v brakes, but thought they require more cable pull than cantis

They do. I have a set of v specific road levers here.

that sounds cool - I know that some early Shimano mid-range groups like I had on my Kona DewDrop - had cable operated discs, and they were STI road levers that would also operate V-Brakes, so should also pull cantis' - I think that was what the Cane Creek levers I had previously were

Yes you are right they do. The old Door 4 finger levers work a treat on the 105 calipers, my Dave Yates road bike has on it, after a flat bar conversion.

Yes I remember now it's V brakes and cable disc brakes that need long pull levers
