Wanted - Light frame / fork with rim brake mounts

hey cool i thought that site was dead, just changed location :) really cannot say enough nice things about how these frames ride
in the uk, they came as the sara kili, carrera jabberwocky, and merida magnesium, and plenty of unbranded litech ones that never sold.
i think main problem they didnt catch on was that once the protective coating is gone and water gets at the bare metal, it corrodes like crazy. not a problem for the cast bits like dropouts and bb shell, but on the stays or downtube its a killer.
as it goes im not one for taking care of my bikes, cleaning, drying, sealing up any chips/scratches so poss that would not be everyones experience.
ultimately carbon has most of the benefits without the drawbacks, so once the monocoque process was sorted and the prices came down, mag was doomed :(

Really interesting all these options and appreciate all the input.

Thanks Dongward & Harryburgundy but not quite what I'm after sorry.

Those magnesium frames do look very interesting but I guess the thought of the corrosion issue with a 2nd hand frame is a bit worrying and it looks like they're rather rare to find in good order.

I've ruled out the Ebay Giant carbon now as I've already got a carbon bike admittedly a very different sort and its going to be a bit big at 19.5".

Keep 'em coming chaps ! :D

Still looking ..... not so fussed about retro / modern now but V brake option is a must so I can use my wheels. Kona Kula Deluxe or something like that anyone ?

Another one to look out for is a Salsa Bandito, the first version without the carbon seat stays.
Mine weighed 1350g with a Chris King headset installed, so sub 1300g bare. I don't really like aluminum frames as they tend to feel too harsh but the Scandium seems to soften the feel whilst still feeling stiff, especially with a carbon post.

I'm going to strip down my Guess Scandium 19 at 1270g with tabs if you're interested?
Will only ask £100 for it including Token headset & seat collar.
Honestly - absurdly light but flexy round the bottom bracket as well.
Been brilliant while I needed a bike light enough to keep on my wall and has only been used on road with slicks and rigid forks.

That does sound interesting Oile - can you send me some pics and detail - I've pm'd you with my email. Cheers.
