Thats right lysander......the world outside of precious america does not exist....
Possibly understandable given their history and the sheer size of the place.

And they do occasionally come out to play :)

Do they have history   going off topic again

I really shouldn't feed the RB trolls, but OK, I'll bite.

Can't be arsed with this British 'ooh look at us, we're such an old country and steeped in history, etc' bollocks. As if that actually, collectively makes us a better bloody country or place to live. Get real, grow up gentlemen.

While us and the other Europeans were busy trying to build our Empires, they were busy building their own country. That tends to focus you inwards as a people, not outwards and with a country as large and rich in natural resources, they've historically had no need to look very far beyond their boundaries.

Remember America was built on the backs of immigrants and cheap labour (and I suppose still is). I'll argue that these people came looking for a new and better life and left the past in the past. But having said that, I've lost count of the amount of Americans I've met who claim to be Irish or Swedish, based on a great-grandfather or other ancestor coming from over there. Which is kind of interesting - as a country they may have a reputation of not being aware of big wide world, but that's not the case when you talk to American Murphys and the Lundgrens.

Got to say, there's a lot to like about America and Americans. I think it's a fantastic place, with some great people.

And their national anthem kicks ours into a cocked hat.

Oy Vey!! *throws up hands*.............CNN is Americacentric, in the same way the the BBC News Channel (though to a lesser degree) is GB centric.......however much relations between GB and US wax and wane according to the mores of our political leaders, Yanks and Brits will continue to get on well with each other- shared language, shared history, more or less, and actual family ties- for Scots and Irish for example, ye'll not have to go much further back than grandparents afore ye find cousins, uncles, etc............
Now, the CNN poll is a bit fuzzy as to intention- is it iconic images per se, or images by iconic figure on photography?? Even then, they have Capa's spanish photo (which was likely staged!), but none of his Omaha Beach ones (which likely weren't) :P ........and no Ansell Adams at all!.....in the end, what are considered iconic photos is a fairly subjective thing.

Right, moving on then, how about them crazy Belgians with their Chips and Mayonnaise?????

fritte saus!

I love that sh!t.

And the Dutch, what is it with them damn beefy breadcrumb croquette things that you get out of a hole in the wall for like 1 euro?

Damn they taste good.

Mind you, everything begins to taste good after spending a few hours in Amsterdam..

Oh yeah, photo's.... nice. Did anyone see the D day landing shots in the news yesterday? taken by retreating Germans. Quility stuff.
