yes it looks similar although the seat stays dont have the pattern on at the top and the badge is oval not round, also the reynolds sticker is lower down the seat tube. could this be what it is then a dawes super galaxy?

Hi, I'm no Dawes expert, but I recall the 1980's / 90's badge as being oval, try searching for examples. Terry

A Super Galaxy would have had more braze-ons - at least for a rear rack. The components are pretty horrible, look like they are a transplant onto a decent frame.

The frame is worth 10 times the bits attached which are probably worth less than the WD 40 needed to get them off! Frame needs a total refurb I reckon and I am not fussy. What ever you do take photos at every step or the frame becomes yet another newly painted , unidentified , supposedly 531 but has new stickers, "race " bike.
Sorry to be harsh but that sticker in its original state has all the value. .
It could be made a nice bike with some second hand bits, especially some better wheels.

agreed it needs stripping so you can start again, frame is hidden under a mess of crud and cr*p parts... do check the frame and forks are straight before you spend anything on it! :D
