vintage pro drive Part 3 of 3

Nice to see it back to it's former glory. Prodrive have suddenly woken up to their past glories at last and quite a few of their old cars have been doing the rounds with the press of late. I remember well my time there in the late 90's; there was a disused corner of a shed down in Banbury that had a load of their old cars sat disintergrating. I remember seeing Jimmy McRaes old Metro 6R4, Vatanens Subaru Legacy, that Porsche and a second SC that Billy Coleman drove, a couple of BMW M3s, a few early Imprezas and boxes of spares to keep then going.

It's nice to see these old stagers getting a future.

"I suppose it's like every 911; the entire 911 experience diluted into a concentrated little hit", he gushes.

You just don't get motor journalism like that any more.

It's a really good motorcar site. But looking forward to the metro video. That car was just the madest of the lot. The idea of doing that

I remember the first time they ran that Metro on the National Breakdown Rally in feb 1986. The Yorkshire moors were covered in three feet of snow and Mikola's quattro was used as a 500bhp snowplough.

It came into first service at Sutton Bank with Jimmy complaining about it's handling. The mechanics were franticaly checking the tracking, camber and castor settings- all were spot on. Then this big Geordie fella who was stood watching said ' Ho mate, yerv got 14 inch wheels on one side and 15 inch on the other!'

slightly embarrasing to say the least.

I think the car ended up in the trees in Givendale later that night. Lovely car though, sounded fantastic.
