It is gas pipe, but it's unusual gas pipe that survived 40+ years. I say put the back brake cable over the bars, reinstate the front mech and small ring. Show it some love and Bob's your uncle (I'm not) to the best of my knowledgeI just picked up a slightly newer ( 1983 I reckon) Mirage Sport from its original owner in Lancashire - who used it daily to go to work and back, original apart from rear wheel that had to be replaced due to buckled rim....

I was going to flip this at this Sunday's bike jumble in Manchester - but after reading this thread, maybe I should show it more love?
Its only a plain old carbon steel frame, but I bought it because of the nice original condition and the quirky 'inexternal' frame brazing which makes it look like a TIG welded 'expensive' frameset - lol. What do we think keeper or gas pipes?
It is missing a front mech and the smaller chainring, but probably aok for flat lanes with just 5 speeds.
