For Sale Vintage Denton Bike

Sorry for the late reply, everyone. I've had some difficult things going on in my personal life which meant I had to put this on hold.
Anyway, thanks for baring with.
Attached pic from other side and the only number I can find ... '4'. I was expecting more like a serial number, is this the number you're looking for?

Frame serial number appears to be 027678, which could be a Mercian from 1978, if so the number 4 would be the frame builder.
Close up on that number, looks like 027538. So slightly different (pretty sure it's a 5, not 6). Does that make much of a difference? I don't have access to any database that would tell me what this number means.

If it's a 3 not a 7 that throws a different light on it, as the last 2 digits on a Mercian frame number are the year so I assumed 1978.
It's very unlikely your frame is a '38!
Sorry.

I thought as much! In pretty positive that's a 3. So, the bike is still for sale regardless of this development. How much do you guys think it's worth?
