Vintage 1993 Klein Adept MC1 Sunburst 29er - RARE!!

I sold a Yeti Ultimate frame and a 0 feedback bidder went to town on it. I don't recall the other guy, but the two just kept bidding. I ended up selling frame and fork for over 2k$

You did well. I've never been burned myself, but that does happen too. There are plenty of scams out there.

In the past I have stated a no zero-feedback policy but made exceptions if someone messaged me. But to each his own.

An above board type of guy then - nice. I'd emailed him at the start of the auction and he said he owns and has owned a bunch of Kleins over 20 years so I thought it strange that he'd be behind a shill situation. Listing it at Christmas time might limit the ultimate price though since these tend to be bought as gifts for oneself rather than put under a Christmas tree, and the wallets of potential bidders might be light at the moment. 8) :P

I take the risk. My point is that the fact that a 0 feedback bidder is going big isn't proof, in and of itself, that there is shill bidding going on. And the fact that a 0 feedback bidder bids dumb is the same thing.

That is nice, I think I saw that on Craiglist some time ago...not sure!

All Adepts have that 2" downtube.

Yeah, this is most probably the same Adept (XS size) that was sold by some lady on Craigslist. So again one of these "buy cheap from CL, sell with max profit on eBay" types.

The seller seems to try to advertise the bike as some of of a custom. Well, apart from the special order paintjob, it's just like other Adepts. The bikes' tubesets were more like Adroits (butted) than Attitudes (plain gauge) which made them very light. My 19" Adept with bone stock XT M737 weighed 9.4 kg.

This one is one of the very rare linear fade painted Adepts which makes it pretty desirable. However, the tiny size makes the potential buyer list a bit smaller. If I recall correctly, the toptube is only 530mm.

Funny isn't it, what commands cash after a period of time. . .
I can see the high(ish) end 700cx groupset becoming collectable in time. . . it must be shimanos least selling groupset, because, as with the adept, who bought high end "hybrids". The hardcore had a nice MTB and a nice roadbike. Hybrids were just a compromise. And are now trendy with 29ers. . .
Don't get me started on lashed-up singlespeeds. . .esp with freewheels. ..
I'll step back as the bunfight starts.

Even Sante parts in good nick now fetch good cash. . . funny ol world

Same sort of concept as my best bike - but mine's got a nicer frame (fillet brazed 653), all XT and while it won't take modern 700c mtb tyres it will fit up to x42s wirh 'grds.
