vintag Paul Love Levers

Not very well if they are the proper early ones as the pivot point is far too short meaning that the lever doesn't pull enough cable. V-brakes rely on long cable pull and so need specific levers to work properly. The alternatives are:

1) set the brakes up really close to the rims so that only a small amount of cable pull is needed. This will mean that you wheels must be totally true. The lever will still feel soft when you pull on the brake but it will stop

2) get some cable 'travel agents'.these allow the cable pull of cantilever type brake levers to be multiplied to suit v-brakes

3) sell the original levers on here and you will make enough money to buy some of Pauls v-brake compatible ones

paul & kooka

Both the Pauls and the Kooka's were made as longer pull versions.

I have canti version and v version of kooka, so this I am for sure. As far as I know the long pull version of the love lever will work with XTR v's but never tried it. There were actually 2 long pull versions of the Paul's as far as I know and of course they started around 2000 with their current love levers which changed design a few years later (without the machined out back of the levers)
