Very stiff shifts with early ergoshifters

I have campag 8spd mirage shifters with stratos derailers on my giant, I have only done about 1000 miles on it since I got it about 3 months ago and put new cables on.

Down shifts on the back and up shifts on the front have become very stiff recently, the cables seem clean and the derailer pivots seem fine too.

has anyone else had this and does anyone know of a solution?

yeah try that, spray stuff with ptfe [teflon] i like. mirage was below veloce which i had 8/s, i loved them, i found them
kind of solid, clunky, reliable. quite precise.
I believe campag ergo more modern made their left shifter requiring 2 sweeps of the lever to change rings
to accomodate a triple chainring perhaps so if any one could clarify please[before i sell my chorus 10/sps]
personally i was not keen on mirage blk plastic levers, but i never heard anything bad about them.

They do gum up over time as mattsccm says WD40 will cure them, sometimes they stop working all together. Its best to turn the bike over, get the WD40 straw between the lever and the brake body and give it a good 30/45 sec blast. Have plenty of rags around as it will leak out everywhere. Leave it for half an hour and then they should be good as new :)

Have you replaced all the outer cable casings fronts & the rear as well as the inner wires?
The outers are prone to cracking, & water/rust getting in, also replace the outer cable furrels as well. Check the bottom bracket cable guide for wear.

Check fork kinks in the cable or a bend that shouldn't be there. Test them without a cable in to check they are ok
