FSA chainrings......any good?

I needed a new middle ring for the XT chainset I have just put on the RTS, and struggled to find a 5 bolt ring. This was the only one my LBS had, so brought it out of desperation for MM.

But, I have never heard of them.....have you?? It was £30, so I hope they're ok!

Ah, thats ok then, not too bad.

The XT chainset has a shimano granny and Middleburn outer, so FSA is comparable quality then

FSA is fine.

I found out two days ago I needed a new middle for the M737 compact. No probs, I have a stack of spare rings.. everything BUT a 5 bolt compact :roll:

Actually it's Truvativ who are part of SRAM, not FSA.

FSA make good kit though, especially chainrings. I read somewhere recently that they were planning to introduce full groupsets in the future, both mtb and road.

FSA make rings up to about £175 each for their TT chainsets and my (former)boss has been racing road on their stuff for the past 5 years with no problems. FSA's cheaper stuff is badged as RPM, it's ok for replacement stuff on cheaper bikes but the rings are like bacofoil! so if you got a £30 mid ring it'll be a good one.

oh, just so you know though, before i left the trade last week we started getting emails from companies saying prices were going up generally, so start stock piling stuff!!! shimano xt 9speed cassette for example was down to rrp of £39.95 at the end of last year and now it is £54.95 rrp. it'll be mostly the european companies that are affected though, so people like marzochhi, FSA (comes through italy), nokian, shimano(can come to the uk via europe), TA rings, mavic, vredstien,michelin, and many more.

i bought loads of spares before i left!!! piles of it everywhere!!
