Verdi - The 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Back in the day I honestly hated the purple phase of parts. Maybe it was because I worked in shops. Perhaps because red was my colour of choice.

However with the Vertex and it's factory colour scheme I now find myself searching Da'Bay and such for purple goodies.

We shall see just how far this goes.... if I do a custom paint scheme the primary colour is a green (think green tree python) with yellow as the high lite colour. No, I am still not sure about changing the colours up. Yellow seems to be harder to find than purple.

All of that being said, anyone in Canada, ideally in BC (awesome if there is a shop on Vancouver Island) have a reliable quality shop for having anodizing done?

My next brain worm issue - rims.

My life long deathgrip on "Mavic Only" rims I do believe has finally come to an end.
I just cannot source quality 231, MA-40 32 hole rims for a reasonable price.
This leaves me looking at Sun CR-18/CR-20 rims. However for this build I do not believe either rim existed in 92/93/94. Is it too much of a leap to use said rims on this build?

I keep thinking maybe this will be a Suntour XC Pro build.... I am prepared to eat the cost of the group... again not easy stuff to find in Canada. Failing that I am seriously considering staying with the era correct XT. Brakes will be Dia Compe 987s regardless with levers being Ritchey Logic or SS-7.

Late at night while lying in bed the idea of a Mavic MTB groupo slides into my thoughts.... hrms.... hrms.... hrms...

Cranks, no idea what so ever at this point. I'd like to go Raceface, but they were not released until '93 to my understanding. XC Pro is the no brainer if I go XC Pro for the groupo. Pedals - currently have a pair DX on there but it will end up XT or XC Pro.

Headset.... still not sure if I wanna go threadless. Threaded is more true to '92. That being said, I refuse to pay the Chris tax for a King headset. Honestly, I would have zero issue using a Kona Impact headset - they just work and work well - lack of colour selection be damned I suppose.

Stem wise have decided on a Control Tech or A-Tac.
Seatpost, Control Tech is likely the solution.
Handlebar, I may have access to a brand new (NOS) Profile Design Tomac flat-bar (black)... but I am leaning towards a Ti bar if I can locate one for a fair price.

Have a few bikes in the cue for this week, then hopefully get back to the Vertex.

Colour scheme images....

Primarily green and maybe... just maybe fading to yellow on the bottom of the tubes.

Custom colour decals with white for background and yellow for foreground for "Rocky Mountain", "Vertex", and "Built in Canada" decals.
