Is there any way to prevent one posters of valuation?

If you logically think about it, majority of here are not bike dealers so are not going to know the value of most bikrs posted. The first port of call is ebay sold items, after all any old bike from bso halfkrxz junk up to a one of trimble is only usually worth what it sild for.

Re:

Such first posts happen everywhere in the forum. ->97 chat, 98+ chat, OT, etc etc.
You can't just stop people from making their first post in there.

You may be able to use a word filter to block first posts with the words "worth" or "value" in them, but then you'll also stop those bikes from being sold here and becoming part of this community.
That's not a problem if it's a Raleigh Activator, but do you really want to miss out on the chance of finding something ultra rare (carbon Lotus, F1, Nukeproof Reactor, etc etc) just because a word filter put the seller off this forum?
Granted, the chance of those showing up is very very small. Still, it can happen.

It happens. two of my bikes have come via 'what's this worth' style posts.

something we have to live with IMO.

Re:

... yeah but they are new newcomers imo they sbuse the forum by not contributing other than one for sale/whats it worth post.

I understand filtering is difficult so looks like something we have to livd with.

Re:

Not everyone is that interested in internet forums.... A new member posting an ad for a sale, wanted, or how much may well be all they need or require. No harm in that

Re:

I have just bought a frame and forks from a guy who's first post was a 'how much is it worth'.

PM / e-mail communication with him about the frame has revealed that he is now an avid forum user, but reading, not posting, so not all 'one time' posters are here today, gone tomorrow.
