V Brakes on a Groove tube GT??

So I've finished my GT Borrego and got it looking just as I wanted with it's DX cantis and it looks spot on. The issue is that I'm quite enjoying riding it as a short ride alternative to my modern full sus but amongst other things the brakes are leaving me a bit disppointed.

On this basis I'm looking at putting some original V Brakes on the bike but that means getting a cotinuous cable outer to the back of the bike.

Has anyone come up with any neat ways of doing this on a Grrove Tube GT frame that doesn't involve drilling the first top tube cable guide?

Ta.

What's wrong with splitting the cable outer in 2 and having bare cable in the groovetube.

Done this on my Rebound.

The second cable guide at the brake end of the groove tube is only big enough for a brake inner and liner and there is nowhere to use as a 'stop' for the last piece of outer that runs to the V Brake noodle.

Before you abandon cantis on your build... Why are they under performing?

Are the blocks hitting the rim square? Decent new pads?

Should be setup in the ON position to ensure this happens

The straddle cable hangers are too high above the tyres on your Borrego.

Hopefully you haven't chopped the inner cable too close to the hanger and you can drop it down nearer the tyre. If this doesn't make an immediate huge improvement then try adjusting the angle of the canti arms by moving the pads further in/out.
All my bikes that use cantis are well set up and perform just as well as V's.

Done this on my Rebound.
