I had some stuff sent to me from NYC on 16th Feb, USPS website tracking thingy says this:

Detailed Results:

Electronic Shipping Info Received, February 16, 2010

Any idea when I should be receiving my package? Is it normal to take this long? It's only a small parcel (two pairs of heavy duty scissors) if that makes any difference?

i reckon you should have it by now but epends how they sent it. next week should be tops for you i think

Your item must have been purchased somewhere near New York? I live in the Midwest and all my sent packages show a first entry of my local post office, followed by an "Acceptance" at Chicago O'Hare airport which is where they get on a plane. I've had packages leave Chicago the day they arrive there and I've had them sit there as long as three or four days.

The next entry you should see on tracking will be when it arrives at the closest airport customs office. Not sure how they do it over there. It's different from country to country. Sometimes they contact you by email or phone and you must receive it at customs. Some countries they deliver it right through to the address on the box but will only deliver to a person, never leave the package. That's what I've learned over the past couple years from past customers. When and how do you get smacked with the VAT? Upon delivery or do they bill you for it?

For Priority Mail they say 6-10 days. I had a customer in Greece get a package in three days once and I've sent things around holiday time that took two weeks to arrive. I think a lot of it depends upon open space in the belly of the planes. Lately most of my customers have been receiving in 6-7 days.

I had a frame take just over a month to arrive.....customs can and will slow things down.....a lot.
When Chris the Parcelforce man delivered mine he said they had lots of problems with getting parcels in/out of the USA.
