Dirt Disciple
I have been offered a Shimano 105 10 speed groupset (minus BB set) at a good price from someone who is upgrading. I have a 1980s Langsett road frame that I am considering as a suitable home for the some of the bits. My plan is to transfer the 105 gears + brifters. The Langsett has Mafac Racer brakes that I would like to retain.
Q1 Will Shimano 105 10 speed levers have sufficient “draw” to operate Mafac centre pulls? I am aware that new shoes would be a good idea. The whole idea is a non-starter if I have to change the brakes because the brake mounts on the Langsett frame are not suitable for the 105 brakes.
I have read the posts about converting a steel frame and the project looks feasible. Dropouts will need to be stretched from 126 to 130mm. Anything else that is going to trip me up?
