Unwanted emails.

Hi all, Against my better judgement my daughter set up a hotmail account. Now "she" regularly sends me stupid little emails with titles such as OMG or Niicce. All that is inside is a clicky saying something like Click here for photos.

Luckily, I have stressed to her the importance of not clicking on anything like this. She gets them sent from school friends (without their knowledge) and they are forwarding on to me. I have scanned the PC using Malwarebytes, Spybot S & D and Kaspersky. All have drawn a blank. I have now deleted my contact list in case it uses mine as well.

How can I stop them?

Change password i believe.
Might be wrong.
Very common with hotmail.

Yep, change her password, should stop it......until she clicks on another spurious email. We had the same problem with our two boys, can't believe they don't cover this sort of thing at school, bloody infuriating!!!

weird, i have been using hotmail for years, never had an issue with spam etc at all.

Same here. I think its the child influence. They seem to think they know everything but suspect nothing.

When I was at home I told my daughter the first time she sends me a forwarded email I will shut that account and open a new one and she will not have it. I lived in the same town for gods sake so call me ya lazy moo. Sure enough she sent one and didn't have my email address for 18 months.

Have you tried having more than one email?

Everything I do has it's own email attached, be it here, other forums, Ebay, or personal.

It prevents somebody from Googling your email and finding out your private activities, or interests etc and forming chains.

I use Gmail a lot, especially if ordering things online, as then the spam goes to those accounts, and my private mail stays reasonably spam free.

The problem is that these emails will send an email to all the email addresses in the hotmail account. And sometimes wipe the address book out too! So unless you keep the other account secret you're back to square one. Hotmail is rife with crap because kids use MSN messenger like we use RB or FB...

Saying that kids are shit with computers - I could just let either or my two eldest just glance at my laptop and it would come back broken and have pashtun as the native language... Seriously how do computers get f*cked so quickly by kids?!?
