Unusual downtube bosses

I have recently aquired this Cyclocross frame and it has unusual (to me at least) downtube shifter bosses. They seem to be very similar to the brake cable guides on the top tube, but different as; There are two very close together the one nearest the headtube is slightly larger than the second / one furtherest from the headtube.

Pictures below but if anyone has experience of this type of boss and how the cable is fitted to it I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks.

A cross frame doesn't have downtube shifters, so doesn't have DT bosses. The shifter is on the bars, a cable runs into those bosses in your photo

The bottom one is the outer cable stop, the top one is the outer cable guide to keep it in place

Yep, bar end shifters. Sometimes the rear mech cable ran across the top tube and down the seat stay to keep It out of the mud.

Often just single chainring up front with guards either side of the ring to keep the chain from bouncing off

Edit. The LFGSS ad you bought it from has two single chainring CX bikes

Weedlings like me taped an old tyre to the top tube to stop it digging in when carrying lol
