Catchy title huh? Based on a thread I started a while back the consensus is that the frame may be made of Tange Prestige given it's stripped weigh of just 4lbs... anyway, it has the non-cowled Ritchey drop-outs, canti mount (now redundant) and a tiny gusset at the join of the down and head tubes. I picked it up off the forum recently powdercoated (with a bag of crappy bits thrown in) and hoarded it for a few weeks while I assembled lots of black bits with white writing on.
Then, a non-MTB riding friend - who's keen to join me and the lads on short trips around the local trails (aka The Meadows and up to Dunham Massey) without having to risk crashing his gorgeous vintage Tomassini (again) - showed an interest in taking it off me built up. His brief was a cheap, light, simple and stealthy singlespeed with a not too far removed riding experience from another mate's rigid cro-mo '98 Kona Fire Mountain... and here it is. It's certainly fast (running 34/13 gearing) and sharp handling (a simple 395mm a-c fork)... time will tell if my friend's going to join us very often but he's had a spin on it, before I stuck the new tyres and seatpost on today, and he seems keen.
