Unknown Hellenic Frame? - NEW FRAME NOs PIC

mrbencole

Retro Newbie
Trying to identify my old hellenic frame before I refurb.
Bought the frame from a neighbour near Bristol in 1974 which was chrome plated at the time and rusting through even then.
Had it de- plated and then enamelled and have used it ever since and replaced bits.
Is it a time trial bike frame. I understood it was a hand made frame with 531 tubing.
Any help would be great.

Re: Unknown Hellenic Frame?

Thanet Silverlight springs to mind but that's a guess given the original chrome finish

Re: Thanet

Thanks for the comment
Picture now up
The Thanet frame is triangular below bottom bracket unlike this one

Re: Unknown Hellenic Frame?

Most builders BITD had a stab at a Hellenic frame, Pollard, Hetchins, Bates....I think even Cliff Pratt had a go :). Any numbers?

Re: Unknown Hellenic Frame?

I think the BB she'll came ready stamped with British Made and then 4 letters a "V" and then 2 more letters.

Is there a number on the rear dropouts or the seat lug? Is the head tube drilled for a badge.?

Re: Unknown Hellenic Frame?

Just had a look but can't see any stamps on seat lug or on dropouts. No drilling on the head tube - such as puzzle!
