Univega Alpina 5.3 framset

I don't want to sell this but riding rigid is gettin to be impossible anymore (old RTA injury and worsening arthritis make jarring shocks through the pedals uncomfortable to say the least)

Size is 19" center to top - top tube is 23"
condition is clean and tidy - it would be very tidy but there are some scrapes in the paint. (toptube from brake levers some on the stays and some on the downtube from a crudguard etc ) but no real rust dings odamage or cracks Great handling frame - i think - and stand by to be corrected that Univega (used the same frame up the range up or downs speccing it to suit a price point)

Is that 1" or 1 1/8" steerer on the Univega?

I agree very sweet handling bikes I've got an older Alpina 5.4.I was hoping they may have switched to a bigger size on later frames.

Price sounds right to me.

Could still be interested if no one else pipes up.

Really need something I can fit some suspension to though.

Its a 1994 same as mine Marc and it looks to be 5.3 yes, the 5.5 and 5.7 had a slightly different (lighter) fork. Other than groupset (this would have had mostly Stx) I thought the frames were all the same but the decal on this one says 969 Complite and mine is 969 Racelight? Probably just different decals as I doubt the tubing is any different.

Great bikes and if I didnt already have one I would have been paying for this now.

yep the higher ones had a 1.1 /.9 (or 1.3 / .9) fork from my research but the frames were i believe just up specced. I' not over the moon about selling it tbh :/ this one had STX/LX mix left on it when i got i 7 months ago. All the tubes are shped and or butted - the only tubular ones being the head tube and seat tube (oh ok the bb shell) Rides everybit as nice as my old 93 Kilauea
