1994 Stumpy rideable, but in commuter with rack mode!
1995 Stumpy FSR, 3/4 built, but can't decide where to go with it
1995 S-Works Team FSR 3/4 built, just need a bit of time to do the rather special wheels!

Just browsing through some old threads, and looking at the pics of part build bikes.

How many of you currently have unfinished builds that you would be unable to ride?

This would drive me round the bend! But, having said that, I am about to become one with the Outpost frame

I think the longest I have had a bike I couldnt ride was the LTS, at about 2 weeks :?

So, what ya got that you cant ride?

I voted no, and I just had to get rid of the storage space I had rented to save some cost...all the contents (mostly bikes), have moved in with my wife and I, (God bless her). So I need to get building or selling...she prefers selling...I would rather keep :P

Here's my proof:

Some are no where near finished; some are missing just a few final pieces...though I need my living room back

Supercaliber is just a frame and bits and could take a while.
Trek Y-33 badly needs a rear wheel tension though it is technically ridable.
Norco is OK, just can't convince the toddler to join me on it.
EPX roadie is the commuter and is OK.
Raceline Giro is being turned into a SS and is about 80% there.
Wife's Kona I could ride but it is way too small for me.
Wifes old 10 speed mixte from when she was a teenager just needs air in the tyres.

I so understand the 36 minutes a week comment... it's a bout all I get too!

All the ones at the bottom are ride-able, well bar the Kona (that's got a flat), oh and the FSR (that's currently got no brakes), Cannondale stripped for fresh paint and re-building, DMR still has no brakes and needs grips.

But the proper retro stuff, not including the Cannondale, are all in pieces, pending various things... paint, polishing, parts etc.
GT RTS
Alpinestars Cro Mega
Kona Fire Mountain
Chas Roberts White Spider
Specialized Stumpjumper Comp

That leaves me with 3 or 4 truly ride-able.

Does the DK Eightpack BMX thats got spiders and leaves all over it count as ride-able or not? :D

i have a modern kona cinder cone which is 100% rideable all the time. currently rebuilding my 95 ish fire mountain which is complete now (in terms of i have all the parts) but not built. having said that i have lost a syncros seatpost which was for this bike. no idea where it is!

the next project is a budget 92 (i am told) gt karakoram. so far i have stuck a pair of wheels in, installed the bottom bracket and butchered a modern lx chainset to fit. boy is this bike going to be cheap!

Zaskar: Awaiting enthusiasm (planned build for the winter season)
Stratos: Awaiting the skilled hand to see if that crack is weldable – all parts waiting, mostly
Kenesis: My old regular ride before I found this site :D – bare frame, all parts robbed for other projects
Karakoram: Long way off I fear (winter project maybe for 2011 – 20year anniversary?)

I'm glad I've done this as it serves to remind me that there's no point buying any more 'til these are done – unless of course something from my wish list pops up :D

Everything else is a rider and they get rotated so I'll rarely use the same bike for two rides in a row – that way I can justify them all to Mrs Crayons

Well in my case it's allmost 50/50, two bikes rideable, 2 bikes missing crucial parts. But thats part of the retro-love. Searching for the correct parts.

Three rideable, but one of them will have the forks swapped afore long.........which will go on an XPx frame which is slowly gaining bits.

There has at all times to be summat in bits 'just nearly ready'.........it's the law.
