Up for sale is my lovely ultralight rim-brake wheelset (not exactly sure on age but pre-98 seems the appropriate board). They have really had little use but there is an issue with the rear freehub in that the cassette no longer engages reliably, so the rear needs a fix. This is a common issue with these hubs apparently (though it's not one of the recalled models, I understand) and a quick forum search suggests it might be fixable without even buying a new freehub, but in addition to my hopelessness when it comes to wheels I have a house move going through and a little baby which means sorting out the wheel is unlikely to be a priority for some time yet...
So: the all-black wheelset is made up of American Classic hubs (can't quite remember the model but very very light and not recent ones) laced onto black Mavic X517 rims (32 hole). Laced with black DT spokes. Both wheels are true and spinning nicely, without play. Each hub is standard 9mm QR. The exact weights are 659g (F) and 763g (R) - to give you an idea, one of the most sought-after superlight retro rim-brake wheelsets, the first gen Crossmax, weighs in around 675g for the front and 875g for the rear. I've had a couple of front wheels close to the weight of the American Classic/X517, but nothing anywhere near as light as the rear wheel weight of 763g. They wheels have currently got Scotch strapping tape double-layered as rim tape, which is about 8-9g per wheel.
In light of the issue with the rear, the price is now reduced to just £70 (either collected from from Hampshire or add the cost of whatever postage service you choose). SOLD
