Tyres

+1 for cool dark basement storage. Bicycle Workshop in West London (sadly closed down) had some perfect pairs of amberwall Timbuk ll’s and original Smokes that had been there for 25 years and just like new/supple as you like.

Cheers mine will be getting used couple of sets of magic one of them was nos still in wrapper folded up but in seems to be drooping in places but i assume was it has air in it will push out and keep shape

As anyone who has ever worked in a bike shop knows, that tyre smell when you first open up never leaves you. Forget Napalm in the morning 😀

Always stored em laying flat in a cool dark place or lightly inflated on a display bike. And another thing, de-tension spokes a wind or two ( state on a post-it attached) equally on all spokes on wheels built on display bikes. It reduces the chance of flanges going pop, especially Ringle hubs.
